Fujitsu Stylistic Q702 Sneak Peek

The Fujitsu Stylistic Q702 Tablet PC is now available to order from the Tablet PC Store!

Exciting times for Windows Tablet PCs! Today we got to spend a few moments with a pre-production sample of the upcoming Fujitsu Stylistic Q702 today.

I stress that this mock-up was very raw! In fact it was so raw that the keyboard was basically a solid block of plastic! However the tablet itself was working and it was exceptionally fast even with the third generation Intel Core i3 “Ivy Bridge” processor. Core i5 is expected to be the preferred option for most customers.

What we love about the Fujitsu Stylistic Q702:

The brilliant hybrid clip on keyboard functions as a dock with VGA out, USB, power input and a removable hot swap battery!
The removable battery in the keyboard charges the tablet when it is plugged in for almost limitless runtime!
The active digitizer pen is an N-Trig, but it was actually very nice to use (no doubt thanks to the Ivy Bridge beast inside)
SSDs will come in 64Gb to 256Gb sizes, 4Gb RAM is standard
HDMI, USB 3 and USB 2 ports are on board
There are 4 user programmable buttons on one side
Whilst 4G options will be available overseas, no false claims will be made about the Q702 in Australia due to our different 4G network! Our models will be high speed 3G HSPA (Next G compatible)
The wide viewing (IPS) 11.6” 1366×768 screen is protected by Gorilla Glass with a non reflective finish
There is a fingerprint reader and TPM chip making the Q702 ideal for secure corporate use!

The wide viewing angle high resolution screen looks beautiful and the non-reflective finish makes the Q702 ideal for travellers and road warriors. The powered hybrid keyboard is a stroke of genius (borrowed from ASUS no doubt), harking back to the days of the amazing HP TC1100… only much better!

I was initially disappointed to see the N-Trig pen hanging from the tether, however my disappointment was quickly dispelled with use. It’s no Wacom, but a good portion of my reservations about N-Trig may actually be related to the slow Intel Atom “Oak Trail” tablets that we’ve seen them on.

Handwriting recognition with the N-Trig on the Q702 was flawless and note-taking felt easy. In other words, I could be comfortable with N-Trig on the Q702. There is a slot for the pen in the keyboard dock allowing the tablet to remain amazingly slim but strong.

I can’t wait to get my hands onto a production Q702. The Q702 should arrive within the next month or so, well before the Windows 8 launch!
